The Grey Hen is a luxury bed & breakfast in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Our very comfortable accommodation is near Glen Affric, Glen Cannich and Glen Strathfarrer, famous for their munros. There are 16 Munros within a 30 minute drive. We are close to Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, the NC500 route and Outlander locations such as the Corrimony Cairn. RSPB Corrimony Reserve is within a mile.

 

A warm and welcoming house full of original artwork , the decor is slighly Scandi with hints of cool Caledonia, lots of wood and light. We enjoy looking after our guests from all over the world and are always happy to help.

 

THREE* bedrooms are available:        

Butterfly - a Ground floor twin bedroom has an en-suite shower room.

Loch        - a First floor king-size bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with slipper bath.

* Hare      - a First floor bedroom, with en-suite toilet and in-room shower, has zip-link twin beds which can be made into a superking size bed is offered as an alternative to the Loch Room to allow us to deep clean between bookings until further notice.

Tea /coffee making facilities and hairdryers are provided in each room, and we supply locally produced soap and shampoo for guests' use.

 

Guests are welcome to enjoy the drawing room with log-burning stove, tv and books and games.  We have masses of maps and walking guides.

Full Scottish breakfast cooked on the Aga is served in the dining room where you share a big oak table* looking out over the garden and woods. From November to Easter we also offer supper to guests.

 

For hillwalkers we have good drying facilities for clothes and boots.

For drivers we have masses of parking.

 

 

 

 

 

For cyclists we have secure bike parking.

Location:

25 miles west of Inverness, 8 miles from Loch Ness/Drumnadrochit on the A831.

20 minutes drive to the start of beautiful Glen Affric, Glen Cannich or Glen Strathfarrer.

 

From our wood we have a private gate into the Glen Urquhart Forest, 500 yards from the Affric Kintail Way. Walks from the house are interesting as we are within a mile of RSPB Corrimony Reserve and the Corrimony Chambered Cairn.
